It was a wonderful Bookfair November l. I was delighted to share a table with Dr. Dan O'Keefe-happy to find that he knew many of the Adirondack Waldrons having grown up in "The Crick" (North Creek) I purchased two of his books and would like to purchase another of his "You Really Make Housecalls?"
I understand he does not have email, but Toni Anderson-Sommo would. Can you assist?

Irene, it was such a treat to hear all of you speak this morning in Watertown. As my daughter said on the way home, "I could hang out with authors all day."
Thank you sincerely for fitting a visit to our library into your busy schedule. I am hoping to get some new readers turned on to your books. See you on December 13. Our library is right across from the WL Elementary school but since you've been there before I think you probably remember how to find us.
Happy Halloween! Dona

Hello Irene,
I have read most of your books and have heard you speak to our school children so I feel as if I know you. (Maybe because I met you at a book signing for ACAL!)
I, too, have read "Night" for a college class. Moving. Have you read "the Boy in the Stripped Pajamas?" Also memorable.
I need to ask you a favor. Would it be possible for you to speak to our book club at the Town of Lewis Library? I am starting an adult history book club to encourage older adults to read local history books. Tomorrow is our first meeting and we will hear Donna O'Donnell speak about her husbands grandfather, Thomas O'Donnell. I am looking forward to it especially since the family lives right here in West Leyden.
Our next meeting will be the second Sunday in December, 2-4PM. I thought it would be a great time to introduce your books here so that the adults could purchase signed copies of your books as Christmas gifts.
I would love to hear from you.
Sincerely, Dona Beyel
Town of Lewis Library, Director

Hi Irere - I haven't visited your blog in some time - I like the new look. You're so clever!
I see you are still busy reading and writing several things at once, in addition to painting and volunteering at the canal museum. How do you find the time?
I like your question -What are you reading?
Currenntly, I'm into Enemy Women, by Paulette Jiles, a novel about the Civil War in southeastern Missouri. It's a bit different. The author incorporates actual newspaper articles and other historical data at the beginning of each chapter, which distracts somewhat from the plot; it's a revelation, however, to learn how women prisoners in that area were treated at that time. I'm usually reading several things at once, also, but right now, I've got too many other things going on, so am concentrating on this one.
How is the new Adirondack Mouse book selling?
I hope to see you at your signing on Saturday at the canal museum (if the day is not a total washout).

I also enjoyed my visit with you at the book signing and to remember our childhood days. Plus, it was so enjoyable listening to Mitch Lee, the Adirondack Storyteller while visiting you. All in all it, was a great trip back to my home town for the weekend.

Old Fashioned? Not where I come from and thank goodness for that. I don't often have the whole family here but when they are we have a wonderful time. We connect in a way that others cannot. Never stop your tradition.

A good way to figure things like that out is by reading someone's work and gently reminding yourself of how it is done. You were smart to turn to a book written in first person that you really love. We can learn so much from other writers. Can't we?

I love writing first person, it seems to come quite easy for me but I agree with you. This whole tense thing can be confusing by times.

I so love local history and I'm happy to hear you were able to use this in your writing. This is exactly where my writing takes me. I usually feel a sense of responsibility too because if I don't write about these things who will?
